Web Development Services & Database Integration

When you decide it's time to go beyond a static informational type of web site to something a little more "interactive" for your customers, then your website will probably need to be connected to a database. Our web development services will help you implement the more technical requirements of your web site, such as web programming and database integration. These two usually go hand-in-hand as programming is required in a web site to interact with a database.

Database integration refers to combining a database with your web site so that web visitors can add, remove and update information in your database using a web browser. Most database-driven sites also allow users to search [query] the database too. Database integrated sites are typically referred to as 'web applications' as they are a cross between a simple 'static' HTML site and a full blown software program.

Database-driven web sites are more complex to design, but can be much easier for you to maintain your site's content than their equivalent static HTML site.  In most cases you can manage your database with nothing but a web browser! Our database integration and web development services can make your website much more functional with things like:

What exactly is a database driven web site?  What are it's applications and advantages?

Database driven web sites are all the rage nowadays.  They basically consist of a "back-end" database with web pages that contain "script" programming language capable of pulling specific information from the database depending on what the user wants to know.

One of the most common is an e-commerce application, where a variety of information must be stored in a database, such as product information, stock numbers, prices, discounts, shipping costs, etc.  There are many other applications for database driven web sites too, such as searchable membership directories and guest books and what are called "content management systems."

Content Management Systems

Large sites can be managed (updated, revised) more easily with a content management system, which is essentially a database-driven web site that uses "dynamic" web pages that pull directly from a database. Content management systems are now in use on millions of web sites, most often using Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, or any of the blogging platforms.

What database and programming language do we use?

Our Web Applications are built on Microsoft Access or mySQL databases and utilize Active Server Pages and SQL to query the databases.
